12 Months, 12 Books

I set myself a few little personal challenges this year, based around changing my mindset, improving my mental health and bringing a bit more happiness into my life. One thing that I realised is that in recent years I’ve not really been an avid reader. I used to be, but when the internet took over my life the printed word got pushed to the side. Books are important. They make you think differently. They open the door to another world, another life and provide hours of escapism. Books are fun. So back at the start of the year, I challenged myself to read 12 books in 12 months. Sounds easy, but anyone who knows my daily routines knows how difficult it is to find time for myself, and how easily distracted I become. Not literary classics, not educational books, just whatever I fancied reading at the time. So it ended up a mixed bag, though there wasn’t a bad book among them. Yesterday I competed the challenge. Some of you might say “Who gives a fuck?”, but I do. I’m proud of this wee achievement. Here’s to small victories.
