Been a while since we went out for Sunday lunch, after a semi-regular Sunday carvery meet up with friends over the past few years. That change of lifestyle when you’re a middle aged foodie, and have wholesome Sundays rather than spending them carrying on partying from Saturday night. Anyway, I digress. We stopped in at @drafthouseuk The Hop & Anchor. For those that don’t know, Draft House is a London based craft beer chain, which was bought over a few years back by Brewdog. With the closure of the fantastic Musa restaurant, the opportunity was used to open the first Draft House bar outwith London. I miss Musa, so many great memories – a good day and night celebrating a close friends wedding reception, a beer pairing dinner with MasterChef winner Tim Anderson, the first Brewdog AGM and dinner and beers with Jeppe from the mighty Evil Twin. With The Hop and Anchor, they’ve taken the venue in a different direction. It’s more casual and more of a bar atmosphere, it feels less formal than Musa but still retains the feel of the original venue. We opted for All the Farm, a massive Sunday lunch platter big enough for the family to share, consisting of Scotch Beef Rump, Roast British Pork
Belly & Half Roast Chicken w/
Horseradish, gravy, Yorkshires, parsnips, carrots, green beans and roast potatoes. It was all delicious and everyone enjoyed it. Washed it down with a couple of pints of Marzen lager from Ayinger. There’s a deal on this mouth that gives Brewdog shareholders a 33% discount so it was excellent value for money. Definitely due another Sunday lunch visit soon.
