Got some samples through from local biltong maker @bigbeefys to try out. It’s a local product, based in Dyce just outside Aberdeen. It’s rare to find the South African favourite snack made in our own country, so when Matt told me about his product I was keen to get onboard. 3 varieties to sample. The original was tasty, as good as any biltong I’ve had. Good meaty consistency and quite enjoyable. Next up was the honey and mustard, again if the same high standard, the flavours came through nicely, without being overpowering. The honey was there but not too the extent that it made it too sweet. Saved the chilli for last. Took a few seconds of chewing to get the chilli. A creeping heat, that soon let you know that it was there, but not too much burn, and again the flavour worked well without overpowering the experience. Really enjoyed these, seems to be a few local stockists popping up so grab them if you see them. If you’re a bit further away, there’s a web store to sort you out.
